Guido Minaya

Dr. Guido Minaya Bio

Managing Partner, Minaya & Associates. Minaya & Associates, LLC, has core competencies in select areas of corporate education and training including: global/international/national training operations, blended learning delivery, outsourcing, blended learning content design and performance based learning. With proven practices and tools developed over the past ten years, the firm leverages the national and multi-national experiences, knowledge and education of Dr. Guido Minaya and Susan Minaya, M.Ed.

Minaya & Associates has worked with clients such as American Express, USAA and Sumaria Networks. Prior to launching the company, the Minayas worked for several Fortune 500 firms including: AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avaya, Accenture Learning, American Express and USAA managing regional/global delivery operations and large scale blended learning content design initiatives.

Accenture Learning is one of the largest learning services providers in the world. Dr. Minaya served as Americas Delivery Management Director and the Global Delivery Director for the major client engagement. As the Director of Delivery Management, oversaw four client engagements with regard to corporate education delivery: Avaya University, Sun Education; GECF and Accenture.

As the Global Delivery Director for Avaya University he had responsibility over delivery operations in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. Avaya University was outsourced to Accenture Learning in October of 2001. Avaya University is a global corporate university serving 50,000 learners and was viewed as the largest outsourced corporate university in the world. Minaya had Global executive responsibilities over internal and outsourced instructor faculty resources and manage the intellectual capital development for Avaya associates, business partners and customers through the delivery of strategic programs. Oversee staff of fifty with revenue, cost and margin target objectives as key measurements for the training services segments. Courses were taught in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French and Italian. Management responsibilities for 16 training centers in four global regions. Responsibilities included technical, leadership-management curricula delivery, sales curricula and soft skills curricula delivery for key Avaya student audiences. Co-led efforts to transform delivery of courses from 90% Instructor Led and 10% e-Learning to 50% e-Learning and 50 % Instructor Led.

In 2002 Dr. Minaya moved from Miami to Singapore to launch and oversee the Asia Pacific and Japan Regions for Accenture Learning. Managed client relationships with region’s senior leadership, conducted needs assessments, created learning programs. Successfully completing the assignment, returned to the US to manage the Americas Region in May of 2003.

In October of 2001 through March 2002 managed the Caribbean and Latin America Region. Successfully launched blended learning program to ramp up system engineers. Director of the Caribbean and Latin America Region for Avaya, Inc. Management responsibilities for five corporate university training centers ( Miami, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Bogotá). Managed client relationships with region’s senior leadership, conducted needs assessments, created learning programs for key Avaya student audiences in Latin America.

Minaya earned a doctorate of education degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. The focus of the program was higher education management for senior level administrators of academic universities, corporate universities and non-profit organizations. Dr. Minaya's dissertation focused on transitioning facutly to an e-Learning/blended learning curriculum approach and the impact of e-Learning/blending learning on faculty and student satisfaction. He presented his dissertation findings at the TechLearn Conference in November of 2004 and at the ASTD Conference Research to Practice Forum in June of 2005.

Minaya completed an International MBA program in 1999 and earned degree from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. The MBA curricula focused on global business in the context of the Americas.



Susan Minaya Bio

Susan Minaya is the COO and partner of Minaya & Associates, a corporate learning services company. She has 25 years of learning and development experience working in a variety of industries including telecommunications, medical device manufacturing, software development, financial services and insurance. Throughout her career Susan has lead a corporate university with 85 employees and an $11M budget; designed and developed technical, soft skills, and leadership development programs; and been an instructor for job skill, technical skill and leadership development.

Susan's experiences include L&D leadership; strategic planning; design of an enterprise competency model; implementation of learning infrastructures to support traditional and virtual design and delivery, an enterprise knowledge repository, an enterprise Leadership Development self-service portal, training analytics and automated workflows to more efficiently manage the L&D function. As a learning leader, she has implemented centralized and decentralized learning organizations that have leveraged full-time employees and variable staffing models. In addition to her leadership capabilities, Susan is an experienced instructional designer for skill, technical and leadership development with a propensity towards performance-based learning.

Susan holds a Masters in Education in e-Learning Technology and Design, a Strategic Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), and is completing her Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification from the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD).


Paloma Minaya Bio

Paloma Minaya is a sophomore at the University of California, Santa Barbara Campus and an intern at Minaya & Associates, LLC. Ms. Minaya works on various international research projects for the company to assist Minaya & Associates in better serving their clients. Ms. Minaya also monitors the company’s official website, including, the forum sub-page. As a second year at University of California at Santa Barbara, she has involved herself in a variety of organizations within the UCSB community. Some organizations are On-Campus Democrats, Gamma Phi Beta sorority and Calpirg. Campus Democrats is an organization that puts on events such as retreats and leadership conferences so students can network amongst each other as well as grow comfortable in speaking their opinions on current political issues. Gamma Phi Beta sorority is a Greek organization that collaborates with organizations on campus as well as organizations in the Greek community to set up fundraisers, social gatherings, and opportunities to develop stronger relations in areas of your personal interest. Calpirg is an environmental organization which hosts events like "adopt a block" or "beach cleanups" and provides awareness meetings so students are aware of how their activities are affecting the environment. Ms. Minaya has declared Global Studies a her major and looks to minor in Global Peace and Security. As part of her Global Studies major she is at an intermediary Spanish level and is able to speak as well as write in the language. Skills she possesses are proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, speech writing, delivery and communication. To date Ms. Minaya has traveled to the following countries in an effort to better understand culture and the world at large.
